- Yao Ming will miss tonight’s game as Rockets coach Rick Adelman continues to limit the center’s participation in back-to-back games. Adelman said Yao will play Sunday at home against Minnesota. “We felt the matchups against (Timberwolves center Darko) Milicic tomorrow will probably be better for him. (Against the Spurs) you have to go after (Tony) Parker and (Manu) Ginobili with pick-and-roll after pick-and-roll that this team throws at you.” Jordan Hill will start in place of Yao.
- This will be the second game involved in a back-to-back that Yao has missed. He was inactive Oct. 27, the night after the Rockets opened the season with a loss to the Lakers. Without Yao the following night, Houston dropped a 132-128 game at Golden State.
- Spurs rookie forward James Anderson will miss his first game. He was in Arkansas on Saturday to be with his fiancee for the birth of their daughter. Anderson, San Antonio’s first-round draft choice from Oklahoma State, has scored in every game and hit at least one 3-pointer so far in 20 minutes per night of reserve duty.
