TRAIL BLAZERS AT SPURS, 8:30 P.M. ET

TV: League Pass

  • The Spurs will be without four starters tonight. Tony Parker (left patella contusion) and Antonio McDyess (lower back contusion) will join the expected absences of Tim Duncan (sprained ankle) and Manu Ginobili (quadriceps contusion). Though coach Gregg Popovich said McDyess is being held out as a precaution on the second night of a back-to-back after hurting his back yesterday at Memphis, Parker could miss Thursday’s game against Boston. Ginobili (though he said he’s feeling much better) and Duncan will miss the remainder of the week at least.
  • So, with the rash of injuries, Popovich said the Spurs will start George Hill at point (though he’s bothered by a hyperextended knee), rookie James Anderson at shooting guard, Richard Jefferson at small forward, Tiago Splitter at power forward and Matt Bonner at center.
  • It looks like the Trial Blazers are avoiding the injury bug a little better than the Spurs these days. Coach Nate McMillan said Nic Batum (thigh contusion) is expected to play, and Brandon Roy (back pain) is a game-time decision.
  • Luke Babbitt, the 16th overall pick obtained from Minnesota on a draft-day trade, has been called up and could see action tonight for the Blazers.
