- The Sacramento Kings are finally starting to get healthy. After missing most of the last three weeks, high-scoring two guard Marcus Thornton is expected to return tonight after missing seven of the team’s last 12 games with a bruised left quadricep. Thornton has been replaced in the line-up by rookie Jimmer Fredette for most of those games and there is no word yet as to who will get the nod in the backcourt next to Tyreke Evans.
- “The team is still not 100% healthy, so this is not a basketball team right now,” said Kings coach Keith Smart. “This is still just a collection of guys who are going out on every given night to play.”
- Portland coach Nate McMillan confirmed that he will be without key reserve Nicolas Batum again this evening. The 23-year old Frenchmen suffered a bone bruise to his left knee Monday night against the Jazz and missed yesterdays match up with the Bobcats.
- The Blazers have struggled mightily on the road this season, going just 3-8 away from the Rose Garden. “With the tight schedule, we didn’t think about tonight until after last nights game,” McMillan said before the game. “We know that we have to play better on the road and one of the things is to establish yourself early that you can defend and you can run your offense.”
