MAGIC AT SPURS, 8:30 P.M. ET

TV: League Pass

  • Both Stan Van Gundy and Dwight Howard declined to talk about Howard’s status before tomorrow’s trade deadline, and specifically would not discuss the media report that Howard told Magic players today that he would not exercise the opt-out clause in his contract and would remain with the team for next season. “It’s so tiresome,” Van Gundy said. “I’ve been dealing with this for three months. There’s nothing fresh to me. I’m tired of it. Talk to somebody else about it.” Turning to someone else — Howard, in particular — he followed his custom of rarely speaking before tipoff and walked to the weight room with headphones on when reporters approached him. “What’s important is a win,” he did say.
  • Jason Richardson will miss his third-straight game tonight with a left ankle sprain. “We didn’t expect him to go,” Van Gundy said. “He did. But that was wishful thinking.”
  • Von Wafer will miss again for Orlando tonight because of a lower back strain. Earl Clark is a game-time decision.
  • Manu Ginobili will play but won’t start for San Antonio following the tightness he experienced with a hip flexor muscle late in Monday’s game against Washington. This adds to Ginobili’s injuries this season (fractured left hand, which required surgery and 22 games lost, and an oblique muscle strain, which caused five games to be missed).
