- Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade is not playing due to a sprained left foot. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said it was not a serious injury but wanted to be cautious with Wade’s foot. “It’s not anything major. He has a bunch of little, minor nagging injuries so we will continue to take it day by day,” Spoelstra said. Wade had an x-ray on the foot before loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday and was cleared to play. He had just six points in 29 minutes against the Clippers.
- With Wade out Nuggets coach George Karl expects LeBron James to shoulder a more significant amount of the responsibility Thursday. James had 40 against Denver 12 days ago and he could be in line for even more offense “Without Wade, LeBron is probably going to see his responsibility go up,” Karl said. “Some coaches say 25 percent but I say 50 percent.”
- Nuggets forward Danilo Gallinari and backup point guard Andre Miller will likely draw the defensive assignment on James. “I think we’ll have to guys that like to cover him,” Karl said.
- This is just the Nuggets third home game in their first nine to start the season. After playing Miami the Nuggets will play three more road games, which means they will have nine out of the way in the first three weeks of the season.
