- Bobcats backup guard Ben Gordon will miss tonight’s game because of a sore right knee. Charlotte coach Mike Dunlap called Gordon’s night off a precautionary move and said he didn’t expect him to miss much time. Gordon is averaging 12.8 points per game. With Gordon out, former Warriors guard Reggie Williams could get more minutes tonight.
- The Warriors’ No. 1 goal tonight will be to re-establish themselves as a solid defensive team after a defensive meltdown in Wednesday night’s 131-127 loss at Sacramento. The Warriors set a new season high for points scored but also for points allowed. “You certainly don’t throw it out the window,” Warriors coach Mark Jackson said of the game. “You pay attention to the mistakes you made, you make adjustments and understand that’s not who we are. I don’t care what team we’re talking about, you’re going to have nights where you don’t get it done, whether you’re a great offensive team or great defensive team. What we don’t want to do is develop a trend.”
- The Warriors, according to Elias, made some strange history in their loss to Sacramento. They became the first team in nearly 18 years to have three players score at least 28 points and lose. Stephen Curry scored 32, David Lee 29 and Jarrett Jack 28. Portland was the last team to have three players score at least 28 points in a loss. Rod Strickland scored 32, Clifford Robinson 30 and Clyde Drexler 30 in a 131-124 loss to Seattle on Jan. 15, 1995.
- Bobcats rookie forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist tied his season highs for points and rebounds Wednesday at Phoenix with 25 and 12. The only other time the 19-year-old has scored at least 20 points this season was Nov. 10 against Dallas, his first 25 and 12 game. He and LeBron James are the only players in NBA history to score at least 25 points and grab at least 12 rebounds twice in a game before turning 20. “What’s happening with him is that, obviously management did a great job in drafting him, and the key was his heart,” Dunlap said. “He has great heart, and the other thing is he has is charisma.”
