MAVERICKS AT SPURS, 7 P.M. ET

TV: League Pass

  • Dirk Nowitzki is expected to play tonight for the Mavericks, according to several sources with the team. Nowitzki has missed all this season after right knee surgery.
  • The availability of Chris Douglas-Roberts for the Mavericks tonight is up in the air after the team announced that they had signed him earlier today. Douglas-Roberts had played 11 games for the Mavs’ D-League team (Texas Legends) at nearby Frisco and was signed after Derek Fisher requested his release. “With (Fisher) departing we’ve got to take opportunities to look at the best player available, and this is one of those opportunities,” coach Rick Carlisle said. “He can play any of the perimeter positions for us. We want to get him involved as quickly as possible and see how this fits.” Douglas-Roberts, who has played three seasons in the NBA, averaged 22 points for the Legends.
  • The status of Darren Collison at point guard for the Mavs also is unclear after Collison missed the second half Friday at Memphis with an illness. Carlisle said Collison is available, but added that Elton Brand could appear tonight after missing the last three games with a right groin strain. “He’s doing better,” Carlisle said, “and signs are good that he is getting close.”
  • Kawhi Leonard came off the bench Friday for the Spurs is his first game back since tendonitis in his quadriceps forced him to miss more than a month. But coach Gregg Popovich said Leonard will start tonight.
