- In the fourth and final matchup between the Nets and Magic, Jameer Nelson will play. Nelson had missed the Magic’s previous three games against the Nets — all losses — despite playing in 34 of the Magic’s 43 total games thus far. Magic Coach Jacque Vaughn said he hoped Nelson would push the pace. “He’ll give us a chance to get up and down a bit,” Vaughn said.
- Magic guard Arron Afflalo (strained left calf) will sit out. Vaughn said he would insert Maurice Harkless into the starting lineup and Hedo Turkoglu likely will be activated.
- The Magic will stay over in New York and play the Knicks on Wednesday, getting the rare opportunity to play back-to-back road games in New York City. Vaughn called his players “responsible men” and praised the area’s food. “Less travel, so I’ll take it,” he said.
- Nets Coach P.J. Carlesimo said he thought Magic center Nikola Vucevic was one of the league’s most improved big men. Carlesimo also bemoaned the Nets’ defense, especially its transition defense, during the team’s recent two-game losing streak.
