TV: League Pass
- Denver will get forward Wilson Chandler back after he missed Monday’s game with a left groin strain. Chandler has worked himself back into the rotation after missing most of the first half of the season following offseason hip surgery. He is averaging 8.9 points and 5.0 rebounds in 10 games this season. Center JaVale McGee will most likely not play due to soreness in his left shin. He had an MRI performed Tuesday and no stress fracture was detected. “I would be surprised if Wilson doesn’t play but I’d be surprised if JaVale does play,” Nuggets coach George Karl said.
- Karl talked about the ruling by the league that the officials missed a foul committed by Andre Iguodala on Indiana’s Paul George with 2.2 seconds left in Denver’s 102-101 win Monday night. Iguodala was credited with a steal with the game tied at that point but the league said it should have been a foul. Iguodala was fouled by George on Denver’s next possession and hit the winning free throw with 0.4 seconds left. “Can we call in a foul 30 seconds before that and say they fouled that one? There was a call probably in the last two minutes we didn’t get,” Karl said. “It’s part of the process in basketball. I’m not an authority on league protocol. (Executive vice president) Masai (Ujiri) has told me the league has called us and said they missed a call but it’s never been in the paper. Is that the same protocol? There are a lot of games that you lose in the last minute because of calls. Most of the time they balance out.”
- The Rockets have averaged 20 turnovers in the first two games against Denver, both losses on their home court. Coach Kevin McHale said his team needs to clean that up tonight. “Just way too many turnovers. Just trying to force stuff that’s not there. They’ll load up a side, try and get the ball swung, they’re long, they’re lanky, they bring bodies at him. There are times you just have to make a determination that you’re going to have to pass the ball for a while to get them off of you. We’ve got to do a better job as a team against that. James (Harden) is part of that but our entire team has got to do that. The result of our turnovers is that we throw it to them when there’s no reason to throw it to them, they’re usually a bad thing.”
- The Nuggets reassigned guard Julyan Stone to the Iowa Energy of the NBA Developmental League. Stone has played in just two games this season. He missed the first 34 while recovering from offseason surgery on his right hip.
