- The Toronto Raptors (16-30) acquired Rudy Gay and center Hamed Haddadi on Wednesday for veteran guard Jose Calderon, forward Ed Davis and a 2013 second-round draft pick. The Grizzlies then sent Calderon to Detroit for forwards Tayshaun Prince and Austin Daye. Gay will suit up for the Raptors but won’t start as he’s learning the Raptors system. Rookie center, Jonas Valanciunas returns to the Raptors line-up, after missing 18 games with a fractured metacarpal on his right ring finger.
- The Los Angeles Clippers (34-13) are looking for a third straight win after beating the Timberwolves 96-90 in Minnesota on Wednesday, Toronto is the second stop on an eight-game road trip. Clippers point guard Chris Paul is out with a bruised kneecap, while forward Matt Barnes was suspended earlier Friday for his flagrant foul on Greg Stiemsma in Minnesota on Wednesday.
