• Celtics rookie Jared Sullinger was released from the hospital last night, according to Doc Rivers, after undergoing successful back surgery. Courtney Lee and Jeff Green visited the power forward in the hospital yesterday and said he was in good spirits. Sullinger will be out for the remainder of the season for Boston
  • Chris Paul will miss his seventh consecutive game for the Clippers with a bruised right kneecap. Vinny Del Negro says both Paul and fellow guard Chauncey Billups (left foot) are progressing from their injuries, but there’s still no timetable on their returns. “It’s a daily thing. They both worked out yesterday. It’s a day-to-day thing right now. They are both feeling better, but there’s really no timetable. Of course we want them back as soon as possible, but we want to protect them, and make sure when they come back they are feeling a lot better,” Del Negro explained.
  • Jamal Crawford will attempt to play today, according to Del Negro, despite suffering a broken nose during Friday’s loss against the Toronto Raptors. “He’s got the fractured nose, but we got him a protective mask. Unless there’s complete discomfort, we expect him to play,” Del Negro said.
  • Despite losing Rajon Rondo and Jared Sullinger during the past week to season-ending injuries, the Celtics have responded well to the adversity, winning their past three straight games, all coming at the TD Garden. The three-game streak is the second-longest winning streak in the Eastern Conference right now.
  • A major factor in Boston’s improved play has been the stellar rebounding of Paul Pierce. The small forward has posted three straight double-digit rebounding efforts, the fifth time he has performed the feat over his 15-year NBA career. Without Rondo and Sullinger, two of Boston’s best rebounders, Pierce has needed to step up according to head coach Doc Rivers. “Well, he’s our rebounder,” Rivers explained. “He’s one of them. He has to be. I mean, he literally has to be a rebounder for us.”
