- Pistons rookie center Andre Drummond is out 4-6 weeks because of a stress fracture on the fifth lumbar vertebra, the Pistons announced tonight. Drummond has been fitted with a brace and will not require surgery. Drummond, who sat out the second half of the last two games because of back pain, was examined Thursday.
- Drummond’s absence opens the door for Ukranian rookie Slava Kravtsov. “That’s why you carry three centers,” Pistons coach Lawrence Frank said. “It’s a great opportunity for Slava and he’s put a lot of work in.”
- The Spurs will be missing two of their top players once again. Tim Duncan will miss his sixth game in the last seven because of a sore left knee while Manu Ginobili will sit out for the third time with a tight left hamstring.
- San Antonio guard Danny Green is coming of a career-high 28-point performance against Minnesota. “He came into camp this year and he was sort of different mentally more than anything,” coach Gregg Popovich said. “He was serious business. He was there to beat somebody out, get them home and get minutes.”
