MAVERICKS AT NETS, 8 P.M. ET

TV: League Pass

  • Nets Coach P.J. Carlesimo didn’t have a full update on whether Joe Johnson (sore left heel) and MarShon Brooks (right wrist sprain) would play, but the Nets later cleared Johnson to start.
  • Carlesimo said he couldn’t overstate how important it was for Deron Williams to re-sign with the Nets instead of the Mavericks, but he couldn’t understate how unimportant the decision was as a backdrop storyline to tonight’s game, the first time Williams has faced the Mavericks. Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, who normally attends the team’s road games, is attending the Sloan Sports and Analytics Conference in Boston instead making a first visit to Barclays Center.
  • Three former Nets (Vince Carter, Brandan Wright, Anthony Morrow) are now Mavericks. Morrow, who played with the Nets last season in Newark spoke to reporters before the game. “It’s surprising,” Morrow said. “I do miss Newark.” Morrow marveled at the arena during the morning shootaround and praised Barclays Center’s stage lighting.
