  • Miami announced it has signed veteran forward Juwan Howard the remainder of the season. Howard was previously on consecutive 10-day contracts. He has yet to play this season. 
  • The teams have split two games this season, with the Pistons winning 109-99 at home in late December. The Heat were without guard Dwyane Wade, who was serving a one-game suspension.
  • Coach Lawrence Frank on facing a team chasing history: “Let’s give them our best. The tank has to be empty after the game. That has to be every game but especially when you’re playing against a team that is chasing history.”
  • The Heat hold the league’s best home record at 30-3.
  • Howard and Jarvis Varnado are the inactives for the Heat. Andre Drummond is inactive for the Pistons.
